Q: I have been looking into moulding some car body panels but all of the books that I have read are unclear with reference to release agent. I realise its function but I have been offered it in white or blue. My query is, does the release agent stay as part of the mould or is it simple rubbed off either the mould or the moulded item to reveal the gel coat and are there any substantial differences between the two colours?
A: The reason that release agent is blue is so that you can see it on the mould, it is applied with a sponge and allowed to dry. Once dry, you gel coat over it. Once the mould has been released you must wash the mould with warm water and detergent before using it again. There are no technical differences between the white and blue release agent.
Q: I wish to design a rear spoiler for my car what is the best product to use which can be painted to colour code of the car? will I receive any instructions when I purchase the products.
